Change is in the air. Literally. It's starting to get chilly out!
With Autumn now well on its way, we must say goodbye to our summertime habits. It's time to get yourself ready for the change in season, from the inside out.
To help you, we've made a list of our favorite Autumn wellness tips. Keep reading to learn more.
1. Stay Active
It's all too easy to let the cold air get the best of you, but the last thing you want is to become stagnant. When you slow down, so does your circulation, metabolism, and immune system. Keep up with your daily workout routine or change it up—whatever you do, don't stop moving.
2. Load Up on Seasonal Whole Foods
Your nutrition shouldn't end with the tropical fruits and light dishes that come with summer.
Don't let comfort food get the best of you this Autumn season. There are plenty of delicious whole foods like pumpkin, apples, squash, carrots, and beets that are loaded with essential vitamins and minerals. And, don't forget incredible herbs like turmeric, cinnamon, and ginger.
3. Give Your Immune System a Boost
Embracing the flavors of Autumn may not be enough while your body adapts to the change in weather. There are also other things to consider, such as winter travel and other stress factors like getting your kids being back in school or a new semester at college.
Adding a multivitamin or supplement to your regimen can help fill in the gaps to keep your immune system going at full force.
4. Layer Up!
Chilly mornings may turn into warm afternoons, but those afternoons will soon turn into chilly nights. Ideally, you want to maintain your core body heat to protect your circulation. Cold weather can cause irritation and even crack the skin, which allows bacteria to infiltrate your body.
5. Get Ample Rest
There's nothing like Daylight Savings Time to throw off your sleep schedule, and we all know the importance of good night's sleep.
Shorter days with less sunlight can really mess us up. Make the effort to prioritize a healthy sleep schedule, especially while your body is adjusting to seasonal changes.
6. Wash Your Hands Often
This is a no brainer, but it bears repeating.
Not everyone is successfully taking care of themselves, and even if they are, some people still get sick. Bacteria thrive in cold, dry, and dark environments. Keeping your hands clean is incredibly important to reduce the number of bacteria that we transfer along to everything we touch on a daily basis—this includes ourselves.
7. Stay Hydrated
Staying hydrated is important all-year-round. But we often neglect our water when we're not out in the sun, sweating all day.
Regardless of the season, we need water to flush out toxins, help with digestion, maintain mineral balance, joint lubrication, healthy skin, and more. So, drink up!
