Our amazing superfood gingerbread house recipe!

Our amazing superfood gingerbread house recipe!

We all know the importance of a healthy diet, with a wide variety of different foods all rich in different vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. But getting enough of these important micronutrients can be a challenge, especially at this time of year when there are so many treats on offer.

In addition to that, if you have young children (or fussy older ones) then you’ll know it can be even more of a challenge trying to get them to eat broccoli. You’ve probably even tried, successfully or unsuccessfully, to sneak veggies into their meals just to try to get more vitamins and minerals into their diet.

December 12th marks National Gingerbread House Day and to celebrate, we’ve made our very own gingerbread house and decorated it with various different color frostings.

But what does all this have to do with vitamins and minerals, we hear you cry!

Don’t worry, we haven’t gone off on a tangent – we’ve decorated our gingerbread house using a variety of our beautifully colored superfood powders! So eating this gingerbread house provides essential nutrients, immune-supporting antioxidants, and powerful phytonutrients. All while enjoying a treat fit for the holiday season!

Here’s what we used:

Blue – Butterfly Pea Powder truly does contain color changing magic. With a beautiful blue hue, butterfly pea powder is one of the best natural food colorings around. It’s rich in immune-supporting anthocyanin that’s also abundant in blueberries.

Top tip – add a sprinkle of pure lemon juice to your blue frosting and watch it change to pink in front of your eyes!

Pink – Raspberry Juice Powder gives a gorgeous pink to red tone (depending on how much you use) and contains ellagic acid, an important antioxidant. And if that’s not reason enough to use it, how about the fact our raspberry power is made from real organic raspberries, meaning that it still tastes like the real deal?

Purple – Acai Berry Powder provides not only essential antioxidants, but fiber too. This wild-harvested berry hails from the Amazon and is so nutrient packed, its superfood crown is well deserved.

Brown – Reishi Mushroom Powder might not sound as glamorous as some of our other superfoods, but this adaptogenic powder helps to support the body through stress, promote a good mood, and provide energy.

All you need to do is add a teaspoon of each to your normal frosting, adjusting for depth of color as you wish to make it lighter in color or more intense, and decorate to your hearts’ delight!

Don’t forget to be social and share your creations with us. Have fun!
