Historically, Cordyceps sinensis was only found high in the Himalayan mountains, at altitudes over 3,800 meters above sea level. The fungus itself is a parasite, only growing on the larvae of a specific caterpillar itself only found at these heights.
Much of its medicinal ability lies in its cordycepic acid, amino acids, vitamins and minerals including the B vitamins, vitamins E and K and potassium, calcium, zinc, and magnesium.
Cordycepic acid is a known anti-inflammatory agent and is used in TCM to help support healthy lung functions.*
Cordyceps sinensis is a powerful antioxidant too, having a boosting effect on the production of important cells of the immune system, called natural killer cells. This means it may help support a healthy immune system.*
Our Cordyceps mushroom powder is refined to a 50:1 ratio and standardized to 8% cordycepic acid. We liquid ferment the mycelium biomass in a sterile, quality controlled environment using non-gmo growth mediums such as corn and sugars. What we've found is that a lot of suppliers will grow their mushroom extracts on grains or rice to artificially spike the polysaccharide and beta-glucan levels. None of that here!
