Pomegranate Smoothie Bowl

Smoothie Bowls are a big spring and summer favorite, but making them at home can be a little intimidating. How do you get the right consistency? What do you top it with? What flavors should you use?

Well, I am here to tell you it is so much easier than you may think. The trick is to use a high-speed blender or food processor so you can use more frozen fruit and less liquid! Simple as that! 

If you don't have either of these you can still get pretty good results with an average blender, it just may not be as thick as the alternative. 

As far as toppings, the possibilities are endless! Let your smoothie bowl world be transformed and break free of the notion that you must have sliced bananas, strawberries, and honey to make a good bowl. When making this one, I was fresh out of fresh fruit. Did that stop me? NO - head to the pantry and see what you have. In this case, I had a couple of different kinds of nuts and some shredded coconut. Mix those together for a makeshift grain-free granola and you're set! 

You can also use frozen berries (they will defrost as you eat), nut butter, chia seeds, a chopped up Lara bar, chocolate chips, and of course any fresh fruit you have, even oranges and apples! 

For flavors you are limitless. Not every smoothie bowl needs to have acai (although those are delicious, and our Acai Powder makes a lovely one). Head to your freezer and see what you have! My usual base is always a frozen banana or two, and mangoes since I always have them on hand! From there just play around and add whatever sounds good to you! 

To get you started I have shared my Pomegranate smoothie bowl with you for some beginner inspiration! Just remember, always stay creative, and if it doesn't turn out quite right or as thick as you want you still have a delicious smoothie to enjoy at the end! 

     

Nature Restore Pomegranate Powder Recipe     

Ingredients

1 frozen banana
1 cup frozen mixed berries (or berries of your choice)
1/2 cup frozen mango
1/2 cup water (plus more if needed)
  

Optional Topping

Equal parts shelled pistachios, sliced almonds, and shredded coconut evenly mixed together.

Instructions

Place all smoothie ingredients into a high speed or quality blender. 
Use your muddler to press the fruit into the blades.
If needed add more water so you can blend it smooth (try and use as little as you can to keep it thick).
Once smooth, pour into your bowl and add the topping mixture and any other fresh fruits you have on hand (sliced banana is always a good option).
Enjoy immediately!

Note: If you cannot eat the whole thing, or it begins to melt, you can store in the freezer for a few hours without it going solid.
